Age and Service Requirements
The Age and Service Requirements for an SCCRF Member is as follows:
- Minimum of 12 years of creditable service
- Required: 8 years as the Superior Court Clerk
- The member must have served continuously as the Superior/ State Court Clerk for the four years immediately preceding the member's retirement
- Member must be 55 years of age to apply for retirement benefits
- Member must complete all required training per O.C.G.A. 15-6-50
- To provide a Survivor Option, Member must have (see Retirement Options for more details):
- Accrued 20 years of service
- Been married for at least 6 years
Eligible Service Credit for Retirement Benefits:
- Up to 4 years of military service during a time the US was engaged in an armed conflict. [O.C.G.A. 47-14-70(a)]
- Military Service Restrictions: Must be service during time of armed conflict. Service only applicable if member reaches 20 or more years of service (including military service)--Maximum of 4 years of military service is creditable and must be claimed at membership application.
- Up to 8 years of Chief Deputy Clerk time (the prior service is limited to person serving as Chief Deputy Clerk on July 1, 2010. [O.C.G.A. 47-14-70(d)(2)] Must be claimed at membership application.
- Required: Minimum of 8 years as the Superior Court Clerk
