Retirement Eligibility
Age and Service Requirements
To be eligible for retirement benefits from the Superior Court Clerks’ Retirement Fund of Georgia, a member must meet the Fund’s age and service requirements.
Generally, a member must have:
- At least 12 years of creditable service;
- At least 8 years of service as a Superior Court Clerk;
- Served continuously as a Superior Court Clerk during the four years immediately preceding retirement; and
- Reached age 55.
Members should contact the Fund before leaving office or requesting a refund to confirm their individual eligibility for benefits.
Leaving Office Before Retirement Eligibility
Members who leave office before becoming eligible for retirement benefits may request a refund of dues paid into the Fund, as provided in O.C.G.A. § 47-14-76.
Before requesting a refund, members should carefully review the retirement eligibility requirements above. A refund may affect any future benefit eligibility under the Fund.
